The Threat Lab and CITRAP Editorial Board are pleased to announce a new Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Kristin Schneider, a clinical psychologist and ATAP certified threat manager (CTM) with more than 15 years of experience leading behavioral science research for the Department of Defense, will step into the role.
Dr. Schneider is a Threat Lab program manager at the Defense Personnel and Security Research Center (PERSEREC) and a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in post-traumatic stress, suicidality, and personality disorders. Although new to the Federal staff, Dr. Schneider has been a key member of the PERSEREC and Threat Lab team as a senior behavioral scientist on PERSEREC’s prime research contracts since 2016, conducting studies in personnel security and insider threat. Prior to joining PERSEREC, Dr. Schneider led an Air Force behavioral science research team that conducted operational research in personnel screening and selection, behavioral and psychological assessment, and predictive analytics. Dr. Schneider is an active member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and an ATAP Certified Threat Manager (CTM). Dr. Schneider earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Duke University’s Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. She completed her clinical training at the Miami VA Medical Center and a postdoctoral fellowship in evidence-based treatment for post-traumatic stress at the San Diego Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Her research focuses on behavioral threat assessment, structured professional judgment (SPJ) tools, military screening and selection, and the prevention of suicide, sexual assault, and targeted violence.
